Description
Adrian De Leon, Assistant Professor of American Studies and Ethnicity at the University of Southern California, will speak on "Forging Filipinos: A Native Genealogy of an American Diaspora". He will discuss how Spanish and European 19th-century mobilization of a native labor force in Luzon's native lowlands and highlands fomented the formation of Filipino ethnic identity. This talk is part of his larger book project on insurgent histories of Filipino America.
