About the filmmaker:

Working in video, painting, and cyanotype, Indianapolis artist Casey Roberts creates contemplative tableaux-like depictions of the tense dichotomy between mankind and the natural world. His esoteric visual fantasies conceal an imaginative playfulness under a veil of mystery. The Barrick is screening three of Robert's short films:

Sometimes I Dream of Myself as Two People (2015)

Run time: 19:30
A man searching the desert, mining for answers.

The Bird Sessions (2016)

Run time: 9:51
A parable, wherein a psychiatrist conducts a consultation in the middle of a forest.

I Think I Know What the Problem Is (2012)

Run time: 18:47
A dream-like tale of a man who abandons his routine to live as an animal in the forest, as he contemplates his life, hopes, and creative endeavors.

Roberts was a recipient of the 2007 Efroymson Contemporary Arts Fellowship and has exhibited in a number of galleries and museums, including the Elmhurst Art Museum and the Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art. His work is included in the collections of the Fort Wayne Museum of Art and the Indiana State Museum. He is currently represented by PARTS Gallery in Ontario and Walker Contemporary in Boston.
