Description

Sharon L. Dunn, PT, Ph.D., Board-Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist and APTA president will present "APTA: Pursuing our Transformative Vision" as part of the UNLV Physical Therapy Distinguished Lecture Series. The lecture is designed to inspire physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, and students to engage in the APTA’s vision statement for the Physical Therapy profession: “Transforming society by optimizing movement to improve the human experience.” Dr. Dunn will share the current work of the APTA toward the Vision and engage those in attendance for questions and dialogue. 

Dr. Dunn is an associate professor and chair of the physical therapy program at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, where she teaches musculoskeletal content and professional issues.  She earned her Ph.D. in cellular biology and anatomy, and carries out basic and clinical research in the areas of osteoarthritis and coping mechanisms for ACL deficiency.  She is board certified in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy and directs a post-professional PT residency in Orthopaedics at LSU.
