Description

In 2018, the City of Tulsa organized a team of experts, from scientists to community members, to identify gravesites associated with the hidden descendants of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. While the City developed three committees pursuing historical, anthropological, and community aspects of the recovery, the Physical Investigation Committee (PIC) has embodied all three aspects in its recovery process since groundbreaking began in 2020.

This presentation describes the progress of the investigation through 2023, in terms of the teamwork demonstrated by the PIC, and demonstrates the analytical and professional impacts of the group approach.
