Description
The day, dedicated to College of Education doctoral students, will feature information dedicated to the needs of doctoral students of color. In addition to networking, doctoral students will participate in sessions and panel discussions, including:
- AACTE Holmes Scholars Benefits: Leadership, Support and Mentoring with Dr. Weadé James, senior director of development and research, AACTE Holmes Scholars Program
- Beyond Completing a Dissertation: Building a Career with Camille Ungco, doctoral student, University of Washington and UNLV COE AACTE Holmes Scholar Alumni
- Building Mentoring Relationships with Dr. Katrina Liu, associate professor, UNLV Department of Teaching and Learning
- Proposal to Presentation to Publication Pipeline with Doris Watson, professor, UNLV Department of Educational Psychology, Leadership, and Higher Education
The AACTE Holmes Program supports students who self-identify as racially and ethnically diverse and are pursuing graduate degrees in education at member institutions, including UNLV. The program provides mentorship, scholarship, professional development, and networking opportunities for those interested in obtaining academic positions upon graduation.
