Description

The UNLV Performing Arts Center is proud to host its first annual classical guitar competition. The winner of the competition will receive a handmade Antonio Picado Model #49 Guitar.

Students 18 years of age and younger currently enrolled in a southern Nevada school are invited to register. (Current school identification or proof of attendance will be required at competition check-in.)

In the preliminary round beginning at 1 p.m., ten students will each present one piece, not to exceed five minutes. (Repertoire must be selected from the traditional classical guitar music library and must be performed from memory. (Observers will not be permitted.)

In the final round, the top three students will each present two pieces, not to exceed fifteen minutes in total. Performances in the final round will be open to the public, beginning at 2 p.m.

Students will be judged on technique, form, musicianship, repertoire, and performance. (Judges' decisions will be final.)

Price

The finalists' performance will be free.

Admission Information

Tickets will not be required for the finalists' perfomance.
