'Girls on Guard' Self-Defense Training Course - Sign up

The UNLV Department of Police Services offers "Girls on Guard" female self-defense classes in order to provide women with the basic skills to escape an attacker and teach them how to avoid dangerous situations whenever possible. These classes are intended to help students to feel safer and better prepared on campus.

Admission Information

"Girls on Guard" self-defense classes are free and open to all female students, faculty, staff, and community members.

In order to register and participate in a session, please email Sergeant Denise Murphy the following information:

  • Preferred phone number (so we can contact you in the event of any changes)
  • Whether you are a UNLV (or other college) student, staff, faculty, or community member (not affiliated with the college but interested in taking the course)


Once you have registered, you will receive an email with further information and directions.

Registrations may only be done via email (not by telephone).
