Veronica Arellano – School Office Manager, Clark County School District

Veronica Arellano

Veronica Arellano is the School Office Manager at Twin Lakes Elementary School in Las Vegas, Nevada where she oversees the school’s annual budgets, supervises support staff and manages communications to parents and staff throughout the year.  Previous to her current position, she served the students and parents of Southern Nevada in numerous ways including implementing programs to increase student attendance in school settings; planning high school graduations and providing leadership on School Organizational Teams (SOT).

Originally from Mission Hills, California, Veronica’s family moved to Las Vegas in 2001 in search of better opportunities.  She earned her bachelor’s degree in Hotel Administration and Hospitality Management from UNLV in 2012.  Over the years, she has developed a special interest in incorporating innovative programs used by businesses and educational entities, as well as enhancing her knowledge of personnel management and organizational behavior.  Through her participation in the Executive MBA Program, Veronica hopes to continue to make positive contributions to Las Vegas and the Clark County School District for the well-being of the generations that follow.

When not in work or school mode, Veronica enjoys spending time with her family, getting in touch with nature, exercising, reading, horseback riding and traveling.

Arun Asokan - Senior Database Architect/Administrator, Credit One Bank | Founder/CEO

Arun Asokan

Arun Asokan has had extensive education in information technology with a bachelor’s degree in computer science engineering and master’s degree in computer science.  The majority of his work has been related to the financial industry.  At Credit One Bank Arun is known as the ‘go-to’ person for database and analytical technology. He has pioneered the organization’s database technology over the past 12 years, and his ability to build robust database platforms for web-analytics, machine-learning and artificial intelligence has saved significant time and resources for the firm.

Outside of banking, through the experience and knowledge he’s gained, Arun created a peer-to-peer website called  Its online marketplace allows borrowers to access personal loans, while lenders receive a sound return on investment. His interest in the burgeoning FinTech industry has paved the way to pursue his MBA from UNLV. After his degree, his goal is to build a business in the FinTech space and ultimately take it public.

Arun grew up in Tamil Nadu, India, moved to the United States to pursue his education in the early 2000’s and now calls Las Vegas home. He is involved in local non-profit organizations within the Indian community that cherish the festivities and culture from back home.

In his free-time Arun loves to play poker, travel and socialize with friends and family.  He loves his single malt and bourbon whisky and Chettinad (spicy South-Indian cuisine) style food.

Kalen Axam – Performance and Culture Advisor, The Cromwell and The High Roller

Kalen Axam

Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Kalen Axam is the Performance and Culture Advisor for The Cromwell and The High Roller. As a part of human resources for Caesars Entertainment, Kalen is the liaison between the executive team and line level team members. Also known as “the fun side” of human resources, Kalen creates, drives, and executes all things engagement. She is also in charge of managing the performance reviews for the entire property. Kalen is currently helping to create and launch a new employee app that will be piloted at The Cromwell and will eventually roll out to the entire Caesars Entertainment Empire.

A graduate of Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, Kalen has a bachelor’s degree in Spanish. Kalen began her career with Caesars Entertainment as an intern in Tunica, Mississippi at the Horseshoe Casino. After living and teaching English in Madrid, Spain, Kalen returned to America and Caesars Entertainment in 2016 as a VIP Host at the Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore, Maryland. During her time at the Horseshoe Casino, Baltimore, Kalen was promoted to the Training, Performance, and Culture Advisor where she oversaw all things engagement along with internal communications, performance reviews and all new hire trainings.

In her free time Kalen enjoys cooking, traveling, dancing and vlog-ing. This southern city girl is the life of the party who is constantly laughing and dancing. As she approaches her second year in Las Vegas, Kalen has fallen in love with Sin City and can’t wait to see what else Las Vegas and UNLV’s Executive MBA program have in store for her!

Kalen is also known as the official director and choreographer for Cohort 17’s up and coming music video.

Manivone Caballero – Resource Advisor, United States Air Force

Manivone Caballero

Originally from Laos, Mani Caballero brings a unique perspective to the cohort. She has lived in 10 different states, but work has brought her to Las Vegas. Mani received her bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Maryland - University College. She is an active duty Airman, serving in the United States Air Force as a financial analyst. She has worked at numerous bases, in a variety of roles, handling multi-million dollar accounts. 

Mani currently works at Nellis Air Force Base as a Resource Advisor. Her daily responsibilities entail management of funding for the 414 Personnel Unit. As the sole financial manager for this unit, Mani handles all financial functions including procurement, accounts payable and travel arrangements related to training and deployments.

While not working or attending class, Mani loves spending time with her family, especially her little ones. Mani and her family love to explore Las Vegas, enjoying the time they have here until their next adventure.

Frank Corto - President, Sin City VIP and Draft Party USA

Frank Corto

Frank Corto is a business development professional with a background in internet marketing and web development. He earned his bachelor's degree in management information systems from UNLV's Lee Business School. Frank is the founder of Sin City VIP, a Las Vegas party planning company specializing in luxury Las Vegas travel packages including hotel, nightlife and entertainment.

In 2014, Frank founded Draft Party USA, an events company specializing in fantasy football draft parties and sports viewing parties. Las Vegas has become a top sports destination, and Draft Party USA has led the way in VIP sports marketing events.

Since 2011, Frank has been licensed with the Gaming Control Board as an Independent Casino Agent and contracted representative of Caesars Entertainment.

Lisa Curran – Volunteer Director, Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada (VMSN)

Lisa Curran

Lisa Curran was born and raised in Las Vegas and lived all over the country, before settling back down in her hometown. It was while living in Tucson, Arizona that she discovered her passion for non-profit work. She worked for the Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona as the Community Enrichment Manager and Resident Camp Director. In these roles she was presented with the invigorating challenge of providing a lot with minimal resources. In her experience, this challenge is solved by an immense amount of productive teamwork and members of the team taking on various roles within the organization. These solutions are valuable to her today in her current role as the Volunteer Director with Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada (VMSN).

VMSN is a non-profit medical clinic that provides free health care to low-income, uninsured Nevada residents. This medical care is made possible through the work of volunteer doctors, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, and administrative volunteers who donate their time, resources, and knowledge to serve a population of people who typically make too much to qualify for Medicare, but not enough to afford private health insurance, even with the Affordable Care Act in place. In this role, Lisa recruits, trains and retains an average of 600 volunteers per year, working closely with department directors and staff to ensure the clinic runs as smoothly as possible.

Outside of work, Lisa enjoys competing in obstacle course races and challenging herself athletically, participating in running races in Las Vegas and neighboring states - often times accompanied by her husband and son. Training for these events typically happens at her favorite downtown gym, Real Results, followed with recovery at Life Spine in Summerlin.

Mark Escoto – Dentist/Owner, Nevada TMJ Institute

Mark Escoto

Dr. Mark Escoto received his doctor of dental surgery degree from the University of the Pacific in San Francisco and has practiced dentistry in Las Vegas for over 25 years.  He founded the Nevada TMJ Institute, which is his current practice. Dr. Escoto holds diplomat status in the American Academy of Pain Management. Additionally, after successfully running his day-to-day orthopedic practice, Mark traveled to Vicenza, Italy and attained the distinguished credential of Mastership at the International College of Cranio-Mandibular Orthopedics (ICCMO).

Mark is always in pursuit of knowledge; he is constantly looking to become better and invest in himself more. His seeker attitude is the reason that he chose to return to school and enroll in the Executive MBA Program at UNLV. 

In his spare time, Mark enjoys spending time with his twins Mark and Savina. Despite his busy work schedule, Mark manages to make time to watch his daughter play volleyball and his son play football and tennis.

Shayne Frank – President/CEO, PowerChoice Construction, Inc.

Shayne Frank

Shayne Frank is the President and CEO of PowerChoice Construction, Inc., a prime contractor providing construction services to the federal government. As the owner of the company, she oversees the daily operations, enforces budgetary and process controls, and encourages the mission and core values of the organization.

Prior to taking over the company, Shayne was the Director of Business Development. Her responsibilities included capability presentations to potential clients, marketing, strategic planning of budgets, client relationships and procurement.

During this time, Shayne developed the desire to enhance her personal and professional development by going back to school to earn her bachelor’s degree in business administration at the University of Phoenix.

Ken Golar - Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis, MGM Resorts International - The Mirage Casino Hotel

Ken Golar

Ken Golar is the Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis at MGM Resorts International for The Mirage Casino Hotel. Ken is responsible for the evaluation of financial/operational performance through analysis, reporting, modeling, forecasting and budgeting to support all business activity. His areas include gaming, hotel, meeting - conference space, food and beverage, nightlife, retail, entertainment, attraction, and general and administration support. Ken is also accountable for the evaluation of staffing and labor productivity, as well as collaborating with operators and senior leadership with ad hoc analysis, capital expenditure requests and strategic planning. Ken focuses on implementing continuous improvement initiatives to drive business, which assist in meeting company objectives and goals. 

Ken was born and grew up in the Chicagoland area.He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration - finance from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. He has been a Las Vegas resident for 12 years and has elevated his career background in the finance - gaming and hospitality field.  Ken started his career at The Mirage hotel in 2006. Ken held various FP&A roles in the industry, including Venetian - Palazzo, Luxor, Excalibur and MGM Resorts International Corporate before returning to The Mirage in 2016.

Ken enjoys watching sports, playing basketball and working out in his spare time. New challenges are often something he takes on, and the game of golf is currently on the list! Ken is adventurous and loves traveling, attending concerts along with the numerous other Las Vegas entertainment and nightlife offerings, since Las Vegas is arguably ‘The Entertainment Capital of the World!’

Jason Henslee – Engineer IV, JT4 LLC

Jason Henslee

Jason Henslee is an engineer for JT4 LLC, a defense contractor, based out of Las Vegas. JT4 supports the development and testing of new and refined aircraft and weapons systems.  It also operates and maintains integrated test and training range environments for the United States Air Force and Navy, where tactics are developed and modified, and pilots are trained to successfully use the equipment in battle.

As an engineer, Jason performs in a leadership role overseeing the sustainment and operations of multiple radar systems.  He provides technical leadership to engineers and technicians involved in the development, testing, integration, and sustainment of software, electronic hardware, and mechanical equipment and systems. Jason also serves as a technical advisor to other contractors and government agencies.

A graduate of the University of Kansas, Jason has a master’s degree in electrical engineering.  In his free time, he enjoys watching his Jayhawks play basketball, fixing up houses, attending concerts and visiting family in Arizona.

Allison Holten – Senior Financial Analyst, AGS

Allison Shigley

Allison Holten currently works at AGS, a local gaming manufacturer, as a Senior Financial Analyst. Allison has worked at AGS for the last two years as a part of the Financial Planning & Analysis team where she is responsible for working with senior leadership to prepare monthly forecasts, annual budgets, variance analysis and KPI reporting. In addition, she serves as the Community Chair on the Culture Crew where she assists in planning office events, organizing volunteer activities and collecting donations for local charities.

Before working at AGS, Allison served in the Peace Corps as a Small Business Advisor in Namibia. Upon returning home, Allison began her career with MGM Resorts International, starting at the front desk at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino and later in Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis.

Outside of work, Allison is involved in the youth ministry at her church, competes in CrossFit, takes ballroom dancing lessons and goes cycling. She also spends as much time as possible with her family, husband, and pups.

Andy Kieatiwong – Founder/CEO, Additive Rocket Corporation (ARC)

Andy Kieatiwong

Andy Kieatiwong is the founder and CEO of the Additive Rocket Corporation (ARC), a San Diego-based startup that utilizes 3D metal printing and advanced simulation to create launch vehicle engines and propulsion components for the space and defense industries. 

Born and raised in Las Vegas, Andy watched Star Wars: A New Hope when he was four years old and knew from that moment he wanted to build rocket ships one day. After high school, he went on to study aerospace engineering at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). While at UCSD, he was a part of the first student group in the world to successfully design, print and test an additively manufactured rocket engine. His previous experience includes working in the manufacturing engineering department at SpaceX, where he helped design and build tools and systems that aided in the manufacturing and testing of the company’s Draco and SuperDraco engines.

Andy is looking forward to implementing the skills he learns from the Executive MBA program to enhance the day-to-day operations of his company and take them to the next level.

Nathaniel Klein, MD, MS – Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgeon, Las Vegas Minimally Invasive Surgery and Women’s Pelvic Health Center

Nathan Klein

Originally from Michigan, Dr. Nathaniel Klein is an obstetrician and gynecologist who moved to Las Vegas in 2017 in order to pursue a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Klein received his bachelor’s degrees in human physiology and nutrition at Michigan State University.

Following undergraduate studies, Dr. Klein went on to receive his master’s degree in biomedical sciences and research at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Sciences. From there Dr. Klein attended the Chicago Medical School for his doctorate in medicine. He then underwent his residency in Chicago in the field of obstetrics and gynecology at St. Joseph Hospital where he served as administrative chief resident.

After completing his medical training, Dr. Klein pursued advanced specialized training in the field of minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and was accepted into the highly competitive fellowship through the AAGL. Dr. Klein’s particular interests in the advancement of women’s health are complex surgical disorders, chronic pelvic pain and endometriosis. Additionally, Dr. Klein is interested in surgical technology and innovation for the future of surgery and patient care. He is currently working on research with his research team in collaboration with the College of Engineering at UNLV on the enhancement of surgery by augmented and virtual reality. Dr. Klein is excited to start his business education through the Executive MBA program at UNLV and hopes to apply this knowledge to help shape the future of women’s health.

Angela Lee – Learning & Development Vendor Manager, Credit One Bank

Angela Lee

Angela Lee is a proud UNLV alumna. She received her bachelor’s degree in International Business in 2007. During college, she began her 12-year career in the healthcare industry in operations and revenue cycle management.

Currently, Angela is the Learning & Development Vendor Manager at Credit One Bank, the fastest-growing credit card issuer in the United States She works with a wonderful group of business process outsource partners to provide customer service to the bank's seven million card members.

Angela was born in Taiwan, and she is fluent in Chinese Mandarin and English. She was motivated to pursue the Executive MBA at UNLV three years ago and is excited to be able to pursue her dreams now. Angela is looking forward to the knowledge and the skills she will learn through this program to enrich her career.

Andrew Locher – Project Manager, Nevada Joint Training Facility

Andy Locher

Andrew Locher is currently Project Manager for the Nevada Joint Training Facility (NJTF) and is a Police Officer with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD). In his role as the NJTF Project Manager, he represents the LVMPD and spearheads the development of the nation’s largest and most professionally diverse first-responder training community and facility. Before becoming the NJTF Project Manager, Andrew was the lead Firearms Instructor for the LVMPD holding local, state and federal certifications in all manner of small arms instruction.

In his spare time, Andrew is an avid Ultrarunner, traveler and endurance athlete with a preference for international, multi-day events.

Ramu Nallamothu – Senior Director, Technical Operations - Aristocrat Technologies, Inc.

Ramu Nallamothu

Ramu Nallamothu works for Aristocrat Technologies, Inc. as a Senior Director of Technical Operations for Game Studios. Aristocrat is one of the world’s leading providers of gaming solutions. In this position, Ramu helps studios deliver their game content by partnering with technology teams across multiple locations including the United States, Australia and India.

Ramu first earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science from Andhra University, India (1990); a postgraduate diploma in management information systems and computer applications from Osmania University, India (1992); and a master’s degree in computers information systems from University of Phoenix (2005). Ramu migrated to the US in 1999 to work for Intel Corporation in Beaverton, Oregon, before moving to Las Vegas in 2003 to work for Bally Gaming, now Scientific Games. 

Ramu lives with his wife, Jyothi, and their two children - 16 year old son, Bhargav Krishna, and 12 year old daughter, Mounika.  Ramu loves to travel, enjoys his free time working out, taking long walks and watching movies.

William Ruiz - Project Manager, Firetrucks Unlimited

William Ruiz

William Ruiz is a Project Manager at Firetrucks Unlimited, where he leads the refurbishment of fire apparatus and emergency response vehicles including fire trucks, ambulances and crash rescue vehicles for fire departments, military and government agencies.

In 2001, William enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as a Telecommunications Specialist, where he served as a team leader. In 2007, he transferred to the United States Air Force and served as a Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor. After earning his bachelor’s degree in management information systems from UNLV, William accepted a commission from the United States Army as a Logistics Officer in 2014.

Dino Schulatz – Vice President, The Federal Saving Bank

Dino Schulatz

Dino Schulatz is a Vice President at The Federal Savings Bank, a veteran owned and operated bank with the ability to lend nationwide. He works with individual clients, as well as developers, and provides residential and commercial loans from coast to coast. Dino moved to Las Vegas from his home in Chicago to help bring condo financing back to the Las Vegas Strip.

Back home in Chicago, previous to working for the bank, he got his start in finance trading commodities on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange trading floor.

Outside of work Dino enjoys basketball, golf, competing in trail and obstacle course running and any new outdoor adventure that comes his way.

Dino is using the knowledge and relationships from the Executive MBA program to expand his lending business across the west coast in order to help more developers meet their lending needs and assist families in making their dreams of home ownership come true.

Erica Suciu – Vice President, Private Banker, The Private Bank by Nevada State Bank

Erica Suciu

A Las Vegas native, Erica Suciu is Vice President, Private Banker at The Private Bank by Nevada State Bank. Suciu provides high net worth clients with personalized attention and a full range of financial services. She has more than 15 years of local banking experience, having held numerous positions throughout Nevada State Bank including working in small business lending and managing some of the largest retail branches in the state. Erica earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from UNLV. She volunteers with several charities including Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada, American Heart Association and March of Dimes. She is also a graduate of the Leadership Las Vegas program.

In her spare time, Erica enjoys spending time with her family, friends and dog. She has a passion for CrossFit and outdoor activities such as snowboarding and hiking to remain healthy.

James Taylor – Senior Fire Protection Engineer, JENSEN HUGHES

James Taylor

James Taylor only recently moved to Las Vegas in 2017.  He lived in Macau SAR, China for three years prior to moving to Nevada.  James is from Atlanta originally.  While in Atlanta he earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Georgia Tech. He also has a master’s degree in fire protection engineering from Worchester Polytechnic Institute, located in Worchester, Massachusetts.

James is a Senior Fire Protection Engineer at JENSEN HUGHES, a specialty engineering consulting firm specializing in fire protection, with approximately 1,200 employees located all over the world. As a professional engineer in Nevada, James is responsible for project management of fire protection and life safety projects related system design, analysis, commissioning and building code consulting. During his tenure in Macau, James led and managed inspection teams for the commissioning of large, new construction casino projects; most notably Macau Studio City, Wynn Palace, and MGM Cotai.

James was recently married to his wife, Suzanne, in Chicago. They have a corgi named Wrigley.  In his free time James enjoys running and going to the gym, reading, hiking and camping. James also enjoys riding motorcycles and taking his Jeep off-road.

Christy Theisen – Associate Director, JENSEN HUGHES

Christy Theisen

Christy Theisen is currently the Associate Director of the Las Vegas office of JENSEN HUGHES. Christy advanced to the Associate Director position after starting as an entry level associate 13 years ago.  Christy is a licensed Fire Protection Professional Engineer who completed her bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Arizona State University and master’s degree from Worchester Polytechnic Institute in fire protection engineering. At only 30 years old, Christy was named by Consulting Specifying Engineers as a nationwide Top 40 under 40 Engineer.

Today, Christy works on many of the well-known projects on the Las Vegas Strip and around the United States. She works closely with architects and owners to confirm their buildings meet current building code requirements and life safety is achieved. She mentors many of the younger staff within the organization and looks forward to bringing more of the business knowledge gained from the Executive MBA program into the engineering office.

Christy enjoys time at the lake or in the mountains of Utah with her husband, Dan, and two boys, Brady and Corbin.

Christine Tonn, CPA – Chief Financial Officer, Cure 4 The Kids Foundation

Christine Tonn

A longtime mathematics aficionado, San Bernardino, California, native, Christine Tonn, planned her career path around numbers. Getting a taste of the profession at her mother’s employer doing clerical work and inventory counts at age 11, she also knew she wanted to work in an office environment — accounting seemed like a great fit. 

To that end, Christine earned an associate’s degree with a concentration in accounting from Crafton Hills College and a bachelor’s degree of business administration in accounting from Kent State University. A licensed CPA, Christine began consulting with Alliance for Childhood Diseases (doing business as the Cure 4 The Kids Foundation) in 2008 and became the organization’s CFO in April 2012. Christine is responsible for leadership and direction of the accounting and billing departments for the non-profit, whose mission is to advance cures and means of prevention for catastrophic pediatric diseases. She has also served as treasurer of Women’s Resource Medical Center of Southern Nevada since 2010, a non-profit that provides counseling and material services to woman in crisis pregnancies.

In June 2018, Christine was named Financial Executive of the Year in the ‘Services-Other’ category by Financial Executives International. In her spare-time, Christine enjoys trips to Disneyland with her husband of 19 years and four children.

Amy Waysack – Owner, Innovative Consulting Group Inc.

Amy Waysack

Originally from Northern California, Amy Waysack graduated from the University of the Pacific with a bachelor’s degree in business and public administration. In the late 90’s, Amy’s work brought her to Las Vegas to work as an Operational District Manager with 7-Eleven Corporate. She was later promoted to Regional Training Manager, and her team was responsible for coordinating franchise owner training and store assignment for the Southwestern part of the United States.

With 7-Eleven, Amy was enamored with watching new business owners fulfill their entrepreneurial dreams and building their operational skills to grow profits. Her newfound love led her to pursue her own ownership, and in 2003, she began operating a prosperous chain of service and retail businesses in Las Vegas.

After the successful sale of her last business in 2016, Amy found 2018 to be the ideal time to purse her MBA. Currently, she works as business consultant for Innovative Consulting Group Inc., assisting both small and large businesses in the retail, spa, hospitality and gaming industry in various scopes of business expansion. Amy is grateful that her career and personal passions have taken her all around the globe, from Japan to Costa Rica. She also enjoys playing tennis, skiing and gardening in her free time.

Tashina Wortham – Marketing Communications Manager, Konami Gaming, Inc.

Tashina Wortham

Tashina Wortham has specialized in integrated public relations and marketing for more than seven years, predominantly in B2B software and technology. She currently serves as marketing communications manager for Konami Gaming, Inc., a leading global developer of casino games and systems. She is responsible for public relations, social media, brand management and online marketing across North America and abroad. Prior to joining Konami, Tashina worked as public relations and social media manager for multi-family housing PaaS (Platform as a Service) provider Entrata, where she implemented an online B2B content marketing strategy across three blogs.

Tashina graduated summa cum laude from Southern Utah University with a bachelor’s degree in communication, emphasis in public relations, and bachelor’s degree in music, emphasis in clarinet performance. Additionally, she was named by the university as 2011 Communications Student of the Year, 2011 Music Student of the Year, and 2010 Public Relations Student of the Year.

Born and raised in Soldotna, Alaska, she enjoys the outdoors and manages the Las Vegas heat by paddle boarding around Lake Mead and the Colorado River. She has been a certified instructor for Zumba fitness since 2015, teaching at locations such as Anytime Fitness, Body Focus Fitness and The Pink Tutu Ballet. Tashina also performs as clarinetist for The Desert Winds, a Vegas-based wind symphony widely considered one of the nation’s top community band ensembles.
