
English Bridge Program
About
UNLV’s English Bridge Program is a credit-bearing program designed for international students on an F-1 visa who are admitted to an academic program, but do not meet the language proficiency criteria for full admission.
This Program offers two levels:
- Level 7: ESL for Graduate Students
- Level 6: Academic ESL
Program Overview
The English Bridge Program offers academic ESL classes and ESL classes for Graduate Students.
This Program prepares students for the rigor of academic study in college.
Placement
Students are placed in classes based on standardized language test scores. Please visit the International Admissions website for a list of accepted tests.
Registration
Students register for the ESL Bridge classes in MyUNLV.
There are four classes per level: Grammar, Listening and Speaking, Reading and Vocabulary, and Writing.
Each class meets for 5 hours per week for a total of 20 hours of instruction per level per week.
Completion and Progression
Students who successfully complete the ESL Bridge Program with a 3.0 GPA and no failing grades in all four classes in Level 6 or Level 7 receive a waiver for the standardized language test and advance to their major of choice at UNLV.
Scholarships
International students may qualify for a $5000 merit scholarship.

1. To Be Admitted
- Submit your UNLV Application.
- Pay the $95 non-refundable application fee.
- Submit the required application documents listed on the International Admissions website
2. To Register for Classes
Log in MyUNLV with your ACE username and password.

Register for the four classes at your proficiency level.

4. Timeframe
Students may take from 1 semester to 2 semesters to complete the ESL Bridge Program depending on their placement test or standardized English test scores at the time of enrollment.
Session Dates
Intake of new students is in August, January, and July.
The English Bridge Program sessions follow the UNLV’s Academic Calendar.
Program Costs*
The ESL Bridge students pay the Non-resident undergraduate standard tuition. Please visit the Tuition and College Costs website for current costs.
