GAship 1: Rebel Start Summer Camp
This graduate assistantship will support the planning and recruitment process for the inaugural Rebel Start Summer Camp.
Description of Camp
The UNLV Rebel Start Summer Camp is a cohort-based initiative to ensure high school students are college and career ready: providing college courses for dual credit within a comprehensive student success model. The three or five-week summer camp will be community-embedded with frequent engagements on the UNLV main campus.
Some of the features include:
Dual credit offerings that meet NSHE general education requirements and/or are college courses needed for career pathways (e.g., teaching, STEM, [mental] health care)
Career exploration activities early and often within students’ high school career
Individualized student advising to support student success and college and career readiness
Engagement in college preparation activities on UNLV’s campus with career services experts and peers
Orientation to a variety of high-demand Nevada careers and the UNLV programs available to prepare for those careers
Job shadowing, volunteer, and mentorship activities with various community partners
Participant and family engagement activities, including financial literacy and scholarship information, student mental health and wellness, and study skills
Leadership development opportunities for high school and beyond
GAship 2: Rebel Teach Concurrent Enrollment
This graduate assistant will support logistical aspects of the Rebel Teach program, including student registration and other student needs; engagement with Rebel Teach instructors; Rebel Teach recruitment activities; e-news support for PTI/Rebel Teach instructors; and various troubleshooting activities.
Description Rebel Teach
Rebel TEACH, a unique program that offers high school students the opportunity to earn dual credit on undergraduate teacher education courses while still in high school. Classes mirror curriculum taught at UNLV, with credits transferable to any Nevada System of Higher Education institution upon graduation.
