Black Fire Innovation™ brings one of the nation’s top research institutions and the world’s most diversified casino-entertainment provider together in one space to develop quick-to-market solutions that will move the hospitality industry forward. Black Fire Innovation™ will create a collaborative, synergistic environment designed to spark strategic partnerships, advance research, elevate student learning and entrepreneurship, and highlight an emerging workforce trained to excel in a rapidly evolving industry. The business incubator will house a replica resort with dedicated software development and maker spaces, advanced supercomputing access, business acceleration activities, training opportunities, and living hospitality and gaming labs.

The UNLV Harry Reid Research and Technology Park will be a fully master planned business, research, and technology community managed and operated by the Gardner Company in partnership with the UNLV Research Foundation. The Park will be a place where business and technology unite, supporting innovators, entrepreneurs, and discoverers. The Tech Park will foster research growth and technology development and create a business community that advances highly skilled and educated workforce development that diversifies Southern Nevada's economy. This vibrant community will mix technology trailblazers with emerging enterprises, bringing fresh ideas and perspective that advance innovation. Located in a highly sought after, up-and-coming area of business-friendly Southern Nevada, the expansive 122-acre park will offer top-of-the-line facilities to support all of your business' needs.

Nevada Small Business Development Center

Nevada SBDC guides and assists Nevadans looking to start and grow businesses, with objectives to increase business starts, create and retain jobs, and increase access to capital. One-on-one counseling services are free and confidential. Nevada SBDC also offers and coordinates a wide range of workshops and courses in collaboration with public and private entities.

The Troesh Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation partners with students, entrepreneurs, and leaders in the business community to foster entrepreneurship and support business activity, especially in the greater Las Vegas area. The Center’s primary purpose is to provide educational opportunities for students, faculty, and the community to learn about entrepreneurship and related activities. Key activities include: overseeing academic curriculum in entrepreneurship, conducting research in entrepreneurship, and providing learning opportunities such as certificate programs, speakers, and events to expose students, faculty, and community members to entrepreneurship and generate awareness of UNLV Entrepreneurship programs.

UNLV Rebel Venture Fund

Rebel Venture Fund is UNLV’s venture capital (VC) fund that makes equity investments in private high-growth companies throughout Las Vegas and Southern Nevada. The fund invests in startups at every stage and provides knowledge, resources, and support to the growing tech and small business community here in Nevada. Unlike other university VC funds, the RVF is entirely student led and run. Students work closely with entrepreneurs and leaders in the business community to conduct screenings, due diligence, investments, negotiations, and close deals.

Ballard Academy for Student Entrepreneurs Program

Through BASE, Ballard Spahr attorneys provide pro bono legal assistance on issues facing students’ potential ventures. Clients accepted into the BASE program will be assigned to Ballard Spahr attorneys who will guide them through the startup process by providing legal assistance, such as advising on corporate governance and structure, negotiating leases, and other corporation formation and contract matters. In addition to legal advice and support, successful applicants will gain access to educational seminars and programs as well as opportunities to meet and network with young entrepreneurs and others in the startup community.

National Science Foundation Innovation Corps Program

The I-Corps program prepares scientists and engineers to extend their focus beyond the university laboratory and accelerates the economic and societal benefits of NSF-funded, basic-research projects that are ready to move toward commercialization. UNLV has been established as a Node for the I-Corps program to work cooperatively to build, utilize, and sustain a national innovation ecosystem that further enhances the development of technologies, products, and processes that benefit society. I-Corps provides grant funding at varying levels of the program. Through I-Corps, NSF grantees learn to identify valuable product opportunities that can emerge from academic research, and gain skills in entrepreneurship through training in customer discovery and guidance from established entrepreneurs.
