Pregnancy and other Title IX Adjustments

Students may request academic adjustments for general pregnancy needs or for pregnancy-related complications. Students may also request academic adjustments for other qualifying Title IX conditions.

The DRC requires medical documentation from your obstetrician verifying your pregnancy, the due date and indicating any limitations you currently have or may have during your pregnancy, before and/or after childbirth.

The following are examples of possible academic adjustments and services. Since every student’s diagnosis and situation is unique, approved academic adjustments and services may vary.

  • Attendance consideration
  • Exam rescheduling
  • Adaptive furniture
  • Alternative testing
  • Technology-assisted note taking
  • Time extension for assignments

Temporary Injuries & Impairments

Students with temporary injuries or impairments, such as recovery from surgery, broken bones, etc. may be eligible for academic accommodations.

The DRC requires medical documentation, such as a doctor’s note on a prescription pad, letter on letterhead, or discharge documents, that contain the following:

  • Diagnosis,
  • Temporary limitations
  • The expected duration of the recovery. Additional documentation will be required in order to continue receiving services from the DRC,
