Anti-Black Racism Task Force

Task Force Charge

On June 5, 2020, President Marta Meana invited a group of faculty, staff and students to convene a task force to address the concerns of our Black faculty, staff and students. The focus of the task force should be centered around the safety and well-being for students, faculty and staff and to help foster an environment that is centered around safety, equity and inclusion.

The Task Force currently consists of 12 members and includes three committees. More specifically, the charge of the task force includes:

  • Design and implement the processes by which instances of racial threats or violence against Black students, faculty and staff are effectively reported to the university community and appropriately addressed by university administration in a timely and effective manner.
  • Ensure student success by fostering a campus community of support, equity, respect, and understanding through programming and education.
  • Create and implement diverse curriculum offerings.
  • Develop and implement mandatory campuswide educational training on bias and unconscious bias.
  • Develop and implement mandatory training to educate the campus community on bias, unconscious bias, etc. (Specifically UNLV Employees)
  • Improve campus safety for Black faculty, staff and students.
  • Diversify academic schools and colleges.
  • Address inequities for Black faculty, staff, and students.
