General Dentist Faculty

Full-time, general dentist faculty within the department of Clinical Sciences serve as student mentors and provide patient and practice management guidance. Responsibilities include tracking of a pre-doctoral curriculum in General Dentistry including pre-clinical and clinical courses and directorship; supervision and delivery of patient care and clinical research. The 12-month, non-tenure-track position carries an academic title of Assistant/Associate/Professor in Residence.

Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires a D.M.D. or D.D.S. degree from a CODA-accredited college or university as well as experience and expertise in the area of general dentistry, and eligibility for licensure in Nevada.

Preferred Qualifications

At least three years of experience in a dental education environment, and/or AEGD, Operative, and/or GPR experience.

Associate Dean for Community Engagement

The Associate Dean for Community Engagement serves in an executive leadership role at UNLV School of Dental Medicine. The full-time, 12-month tenured/non-tenure academic faculty position holds the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. This role is responsible for coordination, assessment and quality management of community outreach programs. The individual will collaborate to establish relationships between UNLV School of Dental Medicine and the larger health, not-for-profit, educational and governmental community; foster inter-professional relationships to promote oral health; and expand educational opportunities for pre-doctoral and post-doctoral students.

The person in this role will also:

  • Seek to foster and develop shared curricula and experiences.
  • Promote student experiential learning through a variety of community service-learning activities.
  • Compile data that describes the oral health of Nevada as a baseline to develop programs and policies that improve the oral health of the population.
  • Oversee agreements and contracts associated with the external or community-based teaching mission at UNLV School of Dental Medicine. 
  • Serve to strengthen, connect and amplify the interaction between students, faculty, and staff at UNLV School of Dental Medicine and the diverse community in Nevada to enrich student learning, address critical community oral health needs, and foster a culture of health, while supporting the school's strategic priorities.

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, and DDS/DMD from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
