Scholarships

The department of dance offers several scholarships to declared dance majors. A student with a double major must declare dance as their first major in order to be eligible for awards. Scholarships in the department are awarded each semester for the upcoming term.

Scholarship Auditions

All dance majors who have participated in jury exams and production majors who have participated in the concert productions will be automatically considered for departmental scholarships. For new, incoming or transfer majors, a physical scholarship audition is scheduled for the last day of classes of the previous semester. On audition day, students are asked to present a short two minute solo demonstrating their technical dance abilities. For students who live out of town, an online submission or DVD is acceptable in lieu of attendance of this audition.

Recipient Responsibilities

  • Recipients must maintain the GPA required for the scholarship.
  • Recipients must be involved in work that culminates in a formal performance.
  • Recipients are expected to represent the department of dance by demonstrating respect and professionalism in their academic endeavors.
  • Recipients will be assigned responsibilities within the department of dance to be eligible for awards.
