Advising Philosophy Statement

As a future academic advisor, I value the relationship between the student and advisor. I am excited to embrace diversity and strive to learn new things from the students I work with. My office will be dedicated to making an open environment based on sharing, understanding and learning with a student-centered focus. I will provide guidance in clarifying and interpreting institutional requirements and other resources available on campus. I will work to the best of my abilities with the expectation that students will be proactive and actively participate in each advising session. It is ultimately the student’s responsibility for making final decisions on academic choices, but I hope to be an informative and supportive ally during the process.
