Jul. 20, 2021

Is there a teen driver you care about? UNLV invites them to attend a dynamic day of driver education on Tuesday, July 20th from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. This virtual event is part of the federally-funded summer transportation camp for Nevada high school students at UNLV.

The 2021 National Summer Transportation Institute (NSTI) exposes young people to careers in the areas of transportation industry and public safety.
We will begin with a crash reenactment followed by EMS response.

The remainder of the day’s activities will include hearing from a trauma surgeon as he “treats victims” of the mock-crash, then police will take over and discuss the DUI process, followed by a staged trial - complete with prosecutor, lawyers and a judge!

LVMPD detectives, who investigate fatal crashes, will cover how math and science are crucial to their jobs. The afternoon will conclude with a panel of young people whose lives were forever changed by a car crash.
