Each biennium, UNLV places legislative interns and externs in Carson City to assist lawmakers with various duties such as tracking bills, conducting research, and meeting with constituents. The experience takes the classroom to the community, empowering students to have real-world impact on some of Nevada’s most critical issues. The opportunity is open to all UNLV majors, though most participants are political science and law majors.

What excites you most about the legislative session?

I'm most excited to witness how Southern Nevada representation operates, even if it's 400 miles away from home!

What do you hope to learn?

I hope to learn more about how legislators interact with their own communities during the legislative session.

Which legislative proposal do you find most interesting and why?

I'm most excited to see Assemblywoman Brittney Miller present her bill that would allow for a North African and Middle Eastern option on all demographic information collected by state agencies. This proposal would be monumental for many communities, including my own Asian American community, so I'm interested to see where it goes and its impact.
