Courtney Parkinson, a graduating FILM major and honors student, recently completed her honors thesis, a 23-minute video essay / documentary entitled, "Fiery Tempers and Cool Demeanors: Masculinity in Avatar: The Last Airbender." As you may be aware, Avatar: The Last Airbender is a highly acclaimed animated series that originally aired from 2005-2008 on Nickelodeon. 


Uploaded to YouTube about two weeks ago, Ms. Parkinson's thesis now has over 7400 views. Her roommate Treyvon Burch, also a FILM major graduating this semester, provided the narration.

Furthermore, "Fiery Tempers and Cool Demeanors: Masculinity in Avatar: The Last Airbender" was awarded second place at UNLV's Fall Undergraduate Research Symposium on December 9 (which features all disciplines at UNLV, including STEM).
