The College of Fine Arts Around the World initiative is a powerful example of the way in which the CFA embeds and integrates global experiences into the education we offer to students. This is no ordinary travel abroad program, but rather it provides a robust opportunity for students to make original art and perform throughout the world to better understand it. Through this experiential learning, students develop agency and an inventive spirit. These characteristics are paramount to an artist's 21st century career success. After all, we are preparing students for careers for the years to come -- those that don't even exist yet! Emerging artists need to be ready to embrace whatever the future holds for them.
More than anything else, a life in the arts is about possibility thinking.
The College of Fine Arts at UNLV aspires to offer its students an education filled with exciting opportunities that will prepare them to have especially meaningful and productive lives. We are educating our students to be leaders and changemakers in their respective areas of study in the arts, architecture, and entertainment engineering and design disciplines. Our students will contribute to the world as confident and vital global-artist citizens, transforming their communities in compelling and influential ways.
CFA Around the World provides students global exposure as true participant-leaders. There is nothing passive about this program. Students make critical choices and have considerable accountability during their travels. As they become professionals in their respective fields, their global experiences help define them and give them a window on the adventurous careers awaiting them as they navigate the future.
