The College of Engineering is proud to share the winners of this year’s Outstanding Thesis and Dissertation Awards.

Candidates were nominated by their advisors and application materials were sent to outside reviewers. This year two dissertations received nearly the same high scores that the College decided to give both first place awards ($,1,500 each). They are:
1.    George William Kajjumba, CEEC, Advisor: Dr. Erica Marti
2.    Binayak Tiwari, ECE, Advisor Dr. Mei Yang

Reviewer comments included:

George William Kajjumba’s research has a high potential to provide valuable solutions for a grand problem on water and food insecurity. His publication record is outstanding with high quality journal publications such as Chemical Engineering Journal (IF = 13), Science of the Total Environment (IF = 8), Chemosphere (IF = 7). Also, he has received numerous awards and shows a high potential for success.

Binayak Tiwari’s research efforts focus on advancement of NoC (network-on-chips) hardware architectures in efficient communication schemes. His research has a high potential to provide important solutions for on-chip communication in multi/many-core computer chip architectures. His publication record is excellent with five (5) conference proceedings and one (1) journal. 

Additionally, the winner of the Outstanding Thesis Award ($,1,000 each)is:
1.    Padmanabhan Krishnaswamy, Advisor: Dr. Erica Marti
