Our career-technical and workforce education programs prepare professionals in career and technical education, workforce training and development  as well as researchers in public and private settings. The programs focus on instructional and curricular decision-making processes, program evaluation, administration, and leadership development.

Programs & Certifications

We offer the following degree programs and certifications:

The State of Nevada Department of Education provides for special teaching licenses (7th grade through adult) for individuals desiring to teach career and technical education in public schools. Endorsements include subjects like accounting, criminal justice, medical technician, and welding.

This 12-credit graduate certificate is ideal for those who have specific occupational knowledge and skills and  seek professional advancement in the field of education and training or those who pursue Nevada CTE endorsement. The certificate combines career and technical education teaching methodology with practical knowledge of curriculum development and techniques for advising student organizations.

This master's degree with a 30-credit concentration prepares career and technical educators in secondary and postsecondary settings with a focus on instructional and curricular decision-making processes and teaching methods. Courses are offered in evenings, weekends, and online. Study plan includes four required courses for Nevada Department of Education CTE endorsement. Students who have completed the Graduate Certificate in Career and Technical Education can transfer all four courses into this degree plan.

This 30-credit concentration in workforce education leadership aims to prepare workforce education administrators in school and professional settings. Preparation focuses on policies and practice in workforce training, program evaluation, administration, management, and leadership development. Courses are offered in evenings, weekends, and online. 

This 30-credit concentration aims to prepare training and development specialists and managers who oversee workforce education and professional advancement in public and private settings. Courses are offered in evenings, weekends, and online. 

This 33-credit master’s degree plan prepares educators and professionals who are in charge of data analysis, report generation, and policy implementation. Students will be equipped with knowledge and skills to conduct research, analyze data, and use scientific-evidence to inform decision-making. This plan includes the selection of a thesis committee and the completion of a thesis.

The 60-credit Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction with concentration in career and technical and postsecondary education (CTPE) is designed to develop future leaders/educators to make evidence-based decisions related to planning, organizing, delivering and evaluating workforce education and development systems.
