Western Regional Honors Council

If you have considered presenting your research or creative work at an academic conference, this is the perfect opportunity!

The Honors College is now accepting proposals for the 2022 Western Regional Honors Council (WRHC) Conference hosted by the University of New Mexico from April 8-10, 2022. The theme for this year's conference is Revolutions and Constellations: The Dawning of New Paradigms.

The 2022 WRHC Conference provides a unique platform for you to engage in innovative conversations of galactic proportions hosted at New Mexico’s flagship university. Not only will you have the chance to present your studies, share ideas, and build CVs, but also the time to connect with like-minded peers and faculty.

NOTE: This will be an in-person conference. Travel arrangements will be made by the Honors College for students with accepted proposals.

How to Submit a Proposal

Interested students must email an abstract (<250 words) of their proposed presentation to Dr. Bryan Bornholdt ( by Wednesday, Nov. 24 at 5:00 p.m. The Honors College's WRHC committee will then evaluate the proposals and help students with the strongest submissions apply to the conference.

WRHC hosts student presentations in the following formats:

  • Poster Presentation about your research/creative work

  • Research Talks (15 minutes)

  • Workshop-style presentations on topics relevant to academic and social engagement in Honors Colleges

Please note that the Nov. 24 deadline with Dr. Bornholdt supersedes the deadline posted on the WRHC website.
