Elissa Coambs has moved to Las Vegas from Portland, Oregon. Originally from Champaign, Illinois where she attended the University of Illinois and majored in Atmospheric Sciences. The midwesterner in her loves star-gazing, experiencing thunderstorms/snowstorms, and striking up conversations with new people as if she has known them all her life. Elissa has lived abroad in Santiago de Chile for 2 years where she taught English, learned Spanish, and explored their rich culture. She wrapped up that experience with a move to Portland, Oregon where she started working as a Clinical Research Coordinator for the Portland VA in Parkinson's disease research. Elissa states that “at heart, I am a scientist, but I am also a curious explorer with an unquenched thirst for learning and exploring.” This brought her to Las Vegas and she is excited to explore, learn, and grow in her position as a research coordinator in the Department of Brain Health working to advance neurological research.
