UNLV Native American Welcome
Oct. 22, 2021

On August 25, 2017, the American Indian Alliance hosted over 90 students and their families at UNLV’s Native American Welcome.  This was a record year for attendance.  The number of registered attendees was 46 percent higher than the previous year.  In addition, attendees represented more than 26 tribes.

As in previous years, the focus of the event was to welcome students and to introduce new students to available resources.  Students who pre-registered for the event received UNLV-themed swag bags containing a t-shirt, flash drive, water bottle, notebook, and pen.  Students were also eligible to enter a drawing for one of seventeen $50 credits to the UNLV Bookstore and one of five gift baskets, donated by the Inter-Tribal Council of Nevada.  Funding for the event was made possible by a crowdfunding campaign, Rebel Raiser, coordinated with the UNLV Foundation.
