A4 Zine Club Events at the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art

Join UNLV’s A4 Zine Club and the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art for a series of events and workshops dedicated to the art form of zines. The events aim to create an inclusive, welcoming community and space for people to learn about, create, and support zines. The zine workshops, catalog sessions, and Zines 101 begin in September 2022 and are open to UNLV students, faculty, and staff. To join A4, please email a4zineclub@unlv.edu or reach out via the UNLV Involvement Center. There is no attendance requirement or fee to join A4. 

Zine Workshops are hosted every other Wednesday, 5:30 - 6:30 pm

Members of the A4 Zine Club gather and work on zines together. We supply all materials.  Members are also welcome to bring supplies to use or share and a personal device to work on digital zine projects. Hosted every other Wednesday, 5:30 pm-6:30 pm, on Sept. 14, Oct. 5, Oct. 19, Nov. 2, Nov. 16, and Nov. 30. Open to UNLV Students, Faculty, and Staff. Free Admission.

Catalog Sessions

Members can assist with A4’s mission of revitalizing and preserving the Las Vegas Zine Library! Sessions consist of cataloging, classifying, and organizing the zines in the collection. Open to UNLV Students, Faculty, and Staff. Free Admission. Sessions occur every other Wednesday, alternating with Zine Workshops, 5:30 pm-6:30 pm, on Sept. 28, Oct. 12, Oct. 26, Nov. 9, Nov. 23, and Dec. 7. 

Zines 101

Attendees will learn a brief history of zines, including their origins, culture, and the many types that exist and are made today. Attendees will also learn how to get started making a zine. The A4 Zine Club will also introduce the club and what prospective and current members can expect from being part of the club. Open to UNLV Students, Faculty, and Staff. Free Admission. Wednesday, September 21, 2022, from 5:30pm-6:30pm

2 Cultures, 1 Zine Family in partnership with Co-Zi LV

This zine workshop is designed and hosted in partnership with Co-Zi LV, a Comics and Zines Festival held in Las Vegas. Co-Zi LV members will guide attendees through the zine-making process and talk about the museum’s exhibition, Two Cultures, One Family: Building Family, Finding Home, focussing on intersectionality and the different cultures that affect one’s identity. The event will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022, from 4-6 pm. We supply all the materials.  Visitors are also welcome to bring supplies to use or share.  Open to everyone. Free. 

Zine Panel

This event will feature local zine creators. Attendees listen to the creators talk about their work, as well as ask the creators questions. This will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 1:30 pm.
