The UNLV men's swimming and diving team conquered the waves once more, earning the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) title for the second year in a row. This marks a remarkable milestone for the Rebels, who boast a total of four titles in the WAC.

UNLV’s Lady Rebels basketball, led by Coach Lindy La Rocque, clinched the Mountain West Conference for back-to-back championship wins in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. The Lady Rebels also won their 22nd consecutive game, the second-longest active winning streak in Division I women’s basketball, tying the program’s record for consecutive wins.

Now under construction, the Advanced Engineering Building will give the Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering more elbow room for its fast-growing number of majors. When it opens in 2024, the building will offer expanded research facilities, a new makerspace for building large-scale projects, and a drone aviary for developing autonomous aerial systems.

UNLV continues to bolster its online programs campus wide to meet the increasing demand for hybrid and remote degrees, offering students the flexibility while preparing for successful careers with a top ranked education.

Andrew Ho, UNLV student and U.S. Air Force veteran, was recognized as the 2021 Veteran of the Year by the Student Veterans of America—the second UNLV student veteran to earn this designation. UNLV's Rebel Vets and Military & Veteran Services Center continue to develop a welcoming, veteran-friendly campus environment that fosters academic and personal success.

In 2021, UNLV students, faculty, and researchers made national headlines for their impact in their communities.

The Center for Academic Enrichment and Outreach earned $7.6 million in grants to assist low-income and/or first-generation students in 18 CCSD schools. This funding helps UNLV provide a comprehensive range of services to Las Vegas families, including academic advising, college planning, career exploration, and tutoring, as well as special programs targeting veterans and adult learners.

Thanks to a generous contribution from the Engelstad Foundation, the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV is establishing a dedicated Division of Rheumatology. This significant donation will be utilized to recruit and train rheumatologists, addressing the critical shortage of specialists in Southern Nevada. This transformative division will further the medical school's mission and improve access and quality of healthcare in the region.
