Top Chefs Honor Young Chefs: UNLV Hosts Culinary Competition
UNLV’s recently completed Hospitality Hall was the site of the Young Chef and Commis Competition sponsored by the Ment’Or BKB Foundation, named for renowned chefs Daniel Boulud, Thomas Keller, and Jerome Bocuse. The competition featured young chefs from around the country, who competed in front of a live audience in Hospitality Hall’s demonstration kitchen. First place Young Chef winner was Ian Cairns of Yountville, CA, and the Young Commis winner was Amber Baden of Boston, MA. Both winners have the opportunity to travel to Lyon, France to support Team USA in its gold medal defense of the Bocuse d’Or Finale.
