A study by Community Health Sciences professor Courtney Coughenour found that motorists approaching mid-block crosswalks are less likely to yield for black pedestrians than white pedestrians. Researchers say the findings may help explain the influencing factors in higher rates of pedestrian crashes for people of color. The research was featured on National Public Radio.
