A new fire-resistant polymer developed by UNLV chemistry professor Pradip Bhowmik is being commercialized in ways that will make lithium ion batteries – similar to those used in electric vehicles – safer. Local startup Quantum Copper is using the polymer as a component of next-generation materials, marking the latest example of UNLV innovation that works for Nevada.
