Mechanical engineers have developed teams of drones with sophisticated navigation, dectection capabilities, and carefully choreographed movements to detect threatening and high-risk situations like nuclear accidents and natural disasters where it’s not feasible to assess the situation directly. The drone teams can detect radioactive materials or dangerous chemicals and survey damage in places that people cannot safely reach. A swarm of drones can accomplish several tasks that a single couldn’t on its own.
