Media Logistics

This online resource connects media with essential information needed to cover the Oct. 19 presidential debate at UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center. Look for service desks around the media filing center at the Cox Pavilion beginning Oct. 14 for on-site contacts regarding rate card, technical needs, and general questions.

The UNLV Office of Media Relations can assist media with general inquiries about the university, its programs, and its experts. Contact information and other details to help media cover UNLV while on campus for the presidential debate are available in the Media Resources section.

  • Look for the Office of Media Relations at the welcome desk inside the Media Filing Center.
  • UNLV Media Relations will also staff a welcome table for media on campus in the Student Union during normal business hours Oct. 17-19.
  • A media greenroom will also be available Oct. 17-19 in the heart of campus on the first floor of the Rogers Literature and Law Building. The room, hosted by UNLV's Black Mountain Institution and Boyd School of Law, will offer refreshments and limited workspace. Hours:
    • Oct. 17–Noon to 6 p.m.
    • Oct. 18–8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    • Oct. 19–7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Media credentialing is coordinated through the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD). Please note: The deadline to apply for credentials has passed. For further inquiries, please contact the CPD directly.

All members of the media are required to pick up their credentials from the accreditation center before entering the perimeter. Large media organizations will be distributed in bulk and picked up by one to two representatives. Bulk distribution is by appointment only.

CPD/USSS-issued credentials will be required on the following dates:

  • Monday, Oct. 17 (valid)
  • Tuesday, Oct. 18 (valid)
  • Wednesday, Oct. 19 (required)

Media credentials will be distributed during the following hours (All times listed are local, and hours may vary and are to be determined):

  • Monday, Oct. 17, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 18, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 19, 7 a.m.-3 p.m.

Non-Credentialed Media On Campus

UNLV does not require special credentials for media access to campus grounds outside the debate perimeter. Media planning to be on campus to cover debate-related events and activities during Debate Week are encouraged to coordinate with the Office of Media Relations in advance.

Accreditation Center

Enter South Drive from Swenson Street and follow signs to Bronze lot. It’s a direct walk to South Hall Entrance of LVCC. Proceed to meeting rooms S101-105.

Media Filing Center

Media Filing Center is located on the concourse level of Cox Pavilion. Seats are limited to 20 seats per organization. The Media Filing Center will be open 24-hours a day, and the rate card, school help, technology and CPD desks will be fully operational during the following hours:

  • Friday, Oct.14, 7 am-7 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct.15, 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Sunday, Oct.16, 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Monday, Oct.17, 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Oct.18, 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 19, 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Thursday, Oct. 20, 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

Rate Card

Online rate card orders must be made by Thursday, Oct. 13. As of Oct. 14, all rate card ordering must be completed at the rate card desk in the media filing center.

Spin Alley Locations: Cox Pavilion Media Center, Booths Around Perimeter

The CPD media team will be hosting the lottery draws for media spin alley assignments on the following schedule:

  • Network (National offices of ABC, CBS, CNN, C-Span, FOX, NBC) Draw for positions on Friday, Oct. 14 at 5 p.m.
  • Locals/others draw Saturday, Oct. 15 at 10 a.m.

Credentialed Media Parking

Parking passes for all media trucks and trailers, accompanied by map and directions to parking, will be available at an Information Desk in the Accreditation Center and coordinate with the Media Center Rate Card Desk. Please pick up from the Information Desk during the following hours:

  • Friday, Oct. 14, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 15, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 16, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Monday, Oct. 17, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 18, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Trucks will be able to access the parking areas on the following days:

  • Friday, Oct. 14
  • Saturday, Oct. 15
  • Sunday, Oct. 16
  • Monday, Oct. 17
  • Tuesday, Oct.18

**All trucks and trailers must be in position by 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18. After this, access is closed and no more vehicles will be allowed in until after the debate is over on Wednesday, Oct. 19. There will be no access during the USSS security sweep on Tuesday night.**

  • Thursday, Oct. 20. Tear down after 2 p.m.

Media Parking

Media parking during the debate period will be in the White Lot at the Thomas & Mack Center. Enter off Swenson Street to E. Naples Drive entrance and follow signs.

A schedule for the shuttles serving the lot will be available in the accreditation office when you pick up your credentials.

Parking Lots

Pool Truck parking: In parking lot adjacent to loading dock
Satellite truck parking: White Lot, closest to Thomas & Mack Center
Network Truck parking: Black Lot, northeast corner

Outdoor Stand-up Locations

The outdoor stand-up locations are on the circle in front of the main entrance of the Thomas & Mack Center (debate hall).

  • Friday, Oct. 14 (Operational)
  • Saturday, Oct. 15 (Operational)
  • Sunday, Oct. 16 (Operational)
  • Monday, Oct. 17 (Operational)
  • Tuesday, Oct. 18 (Operational)

There will be no access to outdoor platforms starting Tuesday evening during the USSS sweep. Post-sweep access will be determined on site.

  • Wednesday, Oct. 19 (Operational)
  • Thursday, Oct. 20 (Tear down after 2 p.m.)

The CPD team will be hosting a lottery draw for the outdoor platform assignments on the following schedule:

  • Friday, Oct. 14, 4 p.m.: Network draws
  • Saturday, Oct. 15, 9 a.m.: Local/others draw

**Media organizations must have a representative present to draw.

Watch Events

  • UNLV will host a debate watch event for the campus community in the Student Union Oct. 19. The event is ticketed and space is limited.
  • ​Due to heavy demand and limited space, additional media reservations to cover the campus watch event will not be accepted at this time. Media interested in adding their names to the list should space become available can contact the UNLV Office Media Relations at or 702-895-3102.
  • The College of Southern Nevada and Nevada State College will also host presidential debate watch events for students on their campuses Oct. 19, and media are welcome.
