    This video presentation showcases Aurora and Buck Wong's support of engineering, including a $1 million donation toward a new engineering building. The Wongs were also recognized for bringing key relationships to UNLV through their company Arcata, including programs with NASA and Lockheed Martin. “Personally and professionally, I am so grateful to Buck and Aurora Wong for their foresight, generosity, and goodness.     Former Nevada Governor Bob Miller honors longtime friend and new emeritus trustee of the Foundation Board, Bruce Layne, in a video presentation. Layne served on the board for more than 30 years. The Paleontology research group at UNLV, lead by Dr. Steve Rowland, studies both the ecology of ancient ecosystems as well as how those assemblages came to be preserved in the fossil record to better interpret life through time. Southern Nevada is a fossil-rich region, and the team's projects currently include paleontological, paleoecological, and taphonomic studies of Ediacaran invertebrates, late Paleozoic and Mesozoic vertebrate trackways, Cretaceous dinosaur-bearing strata, Miocene terrestrial ecosystems, and the Pleistocene megafauna.     We're raising funds to launch of a new program to provide local high school students with a hands-on science lab experience at the UNLV campus. The goal of our program is to provide local high school students with exciting exposure to a STEM laboratory, allow them hands-on experience with lab microscope equipment and visually stunning prepared samples, as well as expose them to the incredibly diverse UNLV campus. We want to show them not only what STEM is, but also to give them a sense of belonging in a setting that could otherwise be intimidating. This program will also provide an enriching experience for current UNLV students who will interact with, mentor, and act as role models for visiting students.
