Proctor/Reader/Scribe
Disability Services hires proctors to work during Final
Exam Week.
Because of the volume of exams administered during Final Exam Week,
Disability Services uses several sites to administer tests.
Disability Services hires Proctors
to monitor and administer the exams at each additional site. The
Proctors attend a mandatory orientation that gives them information
on the specifics of a proctoring assignment. The proctor works
during Final Exam Week to administer the exams under the supervision
of
Disability Services.
During the semester, the Disability Services also hires Reader/Scribes
to work. A Reader works with the student during an exam and reads
the test
to a student. A Scribe works with the student during an exam and
writes the test for the student. These positions act only in function
of being the student's eyes or hands.
Proctor/Reader/Scribe assignments are filled after each test request
has been submitted and the test has been scheduled. This allows
for a flexible schedule throughout the semester for Disability
Services part time employees.
If you would be interested in this part time employment opportunity,
please call the Disability Services at 895-0866.
Reader: Books on tape
A Reader: Books on Tape is assigned to read the text of a book
on to a blank cassette. Under certain circumstances, a textbook
cannot be obtained on tape through the national service Reading
for the Blind & Dyslexic (RFB&D). The Disability Services
hires a Reader to record the textbook on to tape.
The Reader attends
a mandatory orientation, and then receives an assignment with
a due date. The Reader then completes the assignment
at home, working on their own time schedule. The completed cassettes
and turned in to Disability Services before the due date.
Disability Services checks out equipment for use to record books
on tape to the reader. There are assignments available
of varied
length, and
difficulty levels. For more information about this part time
employment, call Disability Services at 895-0866.
Volunteer
Disability Services always welcomes a volunteer. If
you have extra time during the semester we could use your help as
a proctor, scribe, reader, or research assistant.
If you would be interested in helping us out, stop by our office
in the Student Services Complex, Room 137. You will need to complete
the green data sheet with your available times. And be sure to let
someone in the office know that you would like to volunteer your
time.
