Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service
“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’”
– Martin Luther King Jr.
Help UNLV celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Jr. by getting involved on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013. We will be serving to empower and strengthen our community.
Past Events (2012)
Boys and Girls Club — volunteers participated in Family Day by playing games and leading arts and crafts with the kids, while their parents attend a financial program put on by US bank. Afterwards, the UNLV participants and the kids spent quality time together for the Boys and Girls Club BBQ.
Vegas Roots Community Garden — formerly known as the Tonopah Community Garden, this urban farm promotes healthy eating and sustainable urban agriculture in the lower-income areas of Las Vegas. UNLV participants assisted the garden in the distribution of mulch from recycled Christmas trees and the regular maintenance and cleaning of the grounds.
