Reporting Allegations of Misconduct
Formal reports of an allegation must be filed in writing with the vice president for research and must contain the elements of information required by Nevada System of Higher Education Code Section 6.8.1:
"The complaint shall be in writing, shall be signed by the complainant, and shall, to the extent reasonably possible, specify the date, time, place, person, or persons involved and the circumstances of the alleged prohibited conduct, including the name or names of persons who may have witnessed the alleged prohibited conduct."
If a complainant is unsure whether a suspected incident falls within the definition of research misconduct, he or she should contact the vice president for research to discuss the suspected misconduct informally. If the circumstances described do not meet the definition of research misconduct, the vice president for research will refer the complainant or allegation to other offices or officials with responsibility for resolving the matter.
