According to the university’s Principal Investigator (PI) Eligibility Policy, students may not serve as PIs. They must have a faculty advisor who fulfills the PI eligibility criteria and who will serve as PI and faculty advisor on the study.

Student-initiated research involving human subjects (including research for dissertations, theses/professional papers, or other projects) should be supervised by a PI, and appropriate forms describing the research should be submitted to the UNLV IRB for review. The PI takes the responsibility for ensuring that all research procedures comply with federal, state, and university policies pertaining to the protection of human subjects.

All correspondence will be sent via email to the PI, and the student will be copied. Please ensure that all email addresses are correct for delivery of correspondence from Office of Research Integrity – Human Subjects.
