Institutional Analysis and Planning
The mission of the Office of Institutional Analysis and Planning is to collect, analyze, and interpret information to enhance the quality of decisions guiding institutional direction. To be effective in the role, the staff must be user-oriented; they must accurately assess current issues, identify emerging issues, and provide a timely response to UNLV's executive management. Activities of the office address a broad array of institutional issues and encompass all vice-presidential areas.
There are four distinct functions housed within the Office of Institutional Analysis and Planning and related to its role in decision support: Institutional Research, Data Governance, the Enterprise Data Warehouse, and Business-Intelligence (BI). With its focus on providing information for decision-makers across all vice-presidential areas and levels of the institution and strong technical background in report applications development, the Office of Institutional Analysis and Planning is responsible for both data warehouse and BI development. The central presence of both institutional research and data governance functions in the office ensures that there is close collaboration with the academic and business units.
