The 2009 Donald W. Reynolds Governor’s Cup Competition

With one of the largest cash awards pool in America, the Governor’s Cup is designed to encourage students of Nevada universities and colleges to act upon their ideas and talents in order to produce tomorrow’s businesses. Develop a business plan with up to five other friends and you could win Nevada’s first and only collegiate competition where graduate and undergraduate students compete for cash awards in excess of $100,000. All majors are invited to enter and interdisciplinary teams are encouraged. In addition to an incredible learning experience, students involved in the competition gain access to networks of successful entrepreneurs, lenders and investors, team-building opportunities, business planning skills, and media exposure.

Lt. Governor’s Award: The Nevada Commission on Economic Development grants the Lt. Governor’s Award for the business plan that best employs clean, renewable or efficient energy technologies and services.

NCED Commissioners’ Award: The Nevada Commission on Economic Development’s award for the business plan that best addresses the economic development needs of rural Nevada.

Tri-State Reynolds Cup: In May 2009, the second Annual Tri-State Donald W. Reynolds Cup business plan competition will be held in Las Vegas. The top two undergraduate and graduate teams from Nevada, Arkansas and Oklahoma will compete for cash awards totaling $90,000

MGT 110X Business Plan Competition, a 1 credit hour class, is now on the Spring 2009 schedule.  The course is graded pass/fail and submission of a business plan for the Governor's Cup Business Plan Competition is required to pass the course.  The class meets Fridays from 8:30 - 9:45 am in BEH 105 beginning 1/16/2009 and ending 4/11/09. Because the class is modular, students should be aware that they only have until 1/13/09 to drop the course  for a refund and until 3/6/09 to drop with a "W" or without a grade.
