Karyn's primary responsibilities include coordinating all K-12 preservice placements of university students into CCSD classrooms and directing the New Teacher Induction Program for all new K-12 teachers to CCSD. Karyn provides training to both teachers and administrators regarding effective presentations and facilitation skills for adult learners. She has presented at national and international educational conferences. In addition, Karyn provides presentation on a variety of topics to various audiences, upon request. She has been a yearly facilitator for the CCSD Board of School Trustees Retreats since April 1995. Karyn was recruited to CCSD in 1979 as a new teacher from Southern Illinois University. She received both a BS, elementary education, and an MS, counseling from Southern Illinois University and an administrative endorsement form UNLV. She has been both a teacher and administrator in CCSD. Karyn also works closely with UNLV on a variety of collaborative projects. Membership in professional organizations includes Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, Phi Delta Kappa, Kappa Delta Phi, National Staff Development Council, and Nevada ASCD. Karyn is also a member of EPIC, a consortium of large school district staff development department.
