Creating Charts in Excel

Linking to Files with Multiple Charts

At some point you may want to link a PowerPoint presentation or a Word document to an Excel file that contains multiple charts. The following directions demonstrate how to select the desired chart.

  • Open the Excel worksheet containing the chart or charts you want to use.
  • Select the sheet containing the chart you want to use from the worksheet tabs.

  • Insert the chart as an object as you normally would.

    !!IMPORTANT!!: When you update from PowerPoint or Word, the chart will update to the LAST chart selected, so be careful before you update anything.
