COE Technology Resources - Multimedia Workstations

Project THREAD introduces a new facility and equipment for faculty to digitize and edit movies from analog (VHS), digital cameras, or QuickTime! Come visit CEB 399J and check out our new equipment available for faculty use:

I-Movie Workstation

Mac ImageThis system features a PowerBook G3 notebook computer. It is set up with a VCR and Digital Media Converter to quickly convert analog (VHS) to digital movies. Using iMovie, footage can be easily edited for classroom demonstration and presentations. A 30 GB firewire hard drive accommodates and quickly transfers large image files. You can save your completed projects on zip disks or CD to easily transport your files between systems. The computer has installed MS Office, iMovie, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and Inspiration.

Windows XP Workstation

PC ImageAt the Windows XP station, there is a Gateway Pentium 4 Computer with DVD-ROM & CD-RW Drives. This system also has a Zip Drive for quickly transporting files between machines. A color flatbed scanner is available with Adobe PDF writer. Documents and photos may be printed from the color inkjet printer. The workstation also includes MS Office XP, MS Producer, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Timeliner, and Inspiration.

Technical Assistance

Project THREAD Technical Assistants are available to guide you while you work. They can provide assistance with digital imaging, video editing, web design, productivity tools, and educational software.
