CCSD Resources - Frequently
Asked Questions
- Who is eligible to be a cooperating teacher with Project
THREAD?
Right now we are only working with cooperating teachers
who teach in our identified cluster schools. The current
schools are Ira Earl Elementary School, Will Beckley Elementary
School, K. O. Knudson Middle School, Roy Martin Middle
School, and Desert Pines High School.
- How is this program different than the regular program
for cooperating teachers?
Regular cooperating teachers attend four half-day workshops
per semester while they have student teachers. Project
THREAD adds a half-day of technology staff development
to these workshops, making the program four full-day workshops
per semester.
- Do I have to be technology proficient to participate
in this program?
While you don't have to be an expert, we expect
that you will have some knowledge and experience with
integrating technology in classroom activities. You should
have basic computer skills in word-processing and email,
and be familiar with some educational software programs.
Most importantly, you should be willing to support your
student teacher with the exploration and integration of
technology in their teaching practice and be eager to
learn more about using technology with students.
- What are the benefits of participating in this program?
Cooperating teachers receive educational materials from
Project THREAD to supplement their work with student teachers.
They also receive additional staff development focused
on hands-on technology-supported learning activities.
- Will I receive extra credit for being in this program?
Graduate level university courses are available to teachers
in this program. As with all university courses, additional
time is required outside of the workshops to complete
the course activities. Project THREAD provides the tuition
for these courses, requiring successful completion of
the course. A minimum of 12 teachers are needed in order
for each course to be offered.
