Charles Ramírez Berg, University Distinguished Teaching Professor. Ph.D., The University of Texas at Austin, 1987. Author of Latino Images in Film: Stereotypes, Subversion, and Resistance and Cinema of Solitude: A Critical Study of Mexican Film, 1967-1983 as well as Cine Mexicano: Posters from the Golden Age, 1936-1956.


Leonard Maltin is one of the country's most recognized and respected film critics and historians. Now in his 21st season with television's Entertainment Tonight, he also co-hosts the weekend movie review show Hot Ticket. His annual paperback Leonard Maltin's Movie and Video Guide established his reputation; he was 18 when the first edition of this widely-used reference book was published.


Louis Black In 1981, with a group of friends, Black founded the Austin Chronicle of which he is the editor. In 1987, he was a cofounder of South by Southwest Music Conference and Festival, in 1994 film was added. Black is a SXSW Director with direct responsibility for SXSW Film. And a founding board member of the Austin Film Society, he is a past president of that group.


Andrew P. Crane is the Short Film/ Special Events programmer and Membership Manager for the American Cinematheque in Los Angeles. Some of the programs Crane has put together for the American Cinematheque are Contemporary Mexican Shorts, Down Under Shorts, Women in Shorts, and several Queer Shorts Programs in collaboration with Outfest in Los Angeles.


Ron Underwood, a graduate of the University of Southern California Cinema School, began making films in the fifth grade. He made his feature film directorial debut in 1990 with “Tremors”. Other films he’s directed include “City Slickers”, “Speechless” and “Mighty Joe Young.


Megan O’Neill is the Director of Acquisitions for AtomShockwave, a leading entertainment provider of short content via internet, television, broadband services, and mobile devices. Prior to joining AtomShockwave, she was the co-founder of Forefront Films, a ten-year old distributor of award-winning shorts worldwide.


Kelly M. DeVine acquires shorts and independent features for the Independent Film Channel, managed and operated by IFC Companies. While working chiefly for the channel, she has also brought talent and films to the production and theatrical divisions of IFC Companies, notably LOST IN LA MANCHA by Louis Pepe and Keith Fulton.


Valerie Watts Meraz currently works as Manager of Acquisitions at Showtime Networks and is a graduate of UCLA’s Mass Communications program. Her responsibilities include acquiring features, series, and short films for both Showtime Networks and the Sundance Channel.

Romen Podzyhun, President and Head of Programming and Co-Founder of Movieola, The Short Film Channel in Canada, which is a 24/7 channel dedicated to short films. Prior to Movieola, Romen was a Senior Retail Executive at Eaton'd and Lenscrafter's Canada. Since graduating from York University Department in 1979, Romen has found time to produce 18 short films. Romen is currently expanding Movieola to the US market.
