Ben Reitz

Ben Reitz is a native Las Vegan and, as the son of long-time UNLV Head Swimming Coach Jim Reitz, a life-long Rebel fan. He is now in his third year of a four-year dual degree program at the William S. Boyd School of Law and the Lee Business School.

After graduating from Green Valley High School, Ben moved to the Bay Area to complete a year of community service with the AmeriCorps program City Year. His 1500 hours of service work consisted mainly of helping to close achievement gaps in economically diverse schools. In 2007 he graduated from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in Comparative Religion, and later spent several years in New York City where he began working for Buck Consultants, a human capital consulting firm.

Currently, Ben represents the law school to the Graduate and Professional Student Association (GPSA). He sits on the GPSA Sponsorship Committee, which reviews applications and determines funding levels for hundreds of graduate student research projects. At the law school, Ben is a Junior Staffer with the Nevada Law Journal, President of the Environmental Law Society, and a former member of the Appointments Committee where he represented student views during the faculty hiring process. Ben also has spent time working in the UNLV General Counsel’s Office.

After graduation, Ben plans to practice law in Las Vegas. In his spare time, he plays water polo with Team Vegas/Henderson Water Polo, a team which often practices or competes on the UNLV campus.
