Presidential Student Ambassadors
Rma Kumra was been born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. She attended and graduated from Advanced Technologies Academy (high school) in June 2010 with an Honors Diploma. As a UNLV undergraduate student, she is now a senior in the Honors College and is majoring in Pre-Professional Biology and minoring in Psychology. Rma works on campus in the Schiller Lab as a lab manager, while being part of the Orominer research team with Dr. Martin Schiller. She is a part of various organizations on campus such as the American Medical Student Association and the Honors Student Council and has volunteered for various causes throughout her undergraduate career.
Rma has been part of the Physician Shadowing Committee for AMSA, has volunteered in the emergency room at UMC, and has been on the executive board of the Honors Student Council. She currently volunteers with UNLV buddies, an organization that tutors elementary school children in math and science. She also volunteers with Project S.M.I.L.E, a program that teaches health classes at Shade Tree for women every week. Project S.M.I.L.E. stands for Strengthening, Motivating, and Inspiring Life Everywhere and works towards educating women about health issues that impact their every day lives and to work towards being healthier individuals. Currently, Rma is working towards graduating and taking her MCAT this Fall.
After her expected graduation in Spring 2014, Rma plans to take a year off to work and save money for medical school. She wants to visit her family in India and eat the delicious food before heading off to medical school. After medical school, she wants to use her talents to work with disabled children and to eventually wants to be a part of Doctors Without Borders, to spread the joy of health to everyone.
