Dr. Michelle Giddings teaches undergraduate coursework in psychiatric nursing and maternal-child health. Additionally, she teaches in the graduate nurse practitioner program.
Giddings is an ANCC board certified Family Nurse Practitioner and a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Her dynamic background in nursing includes expertise in mental health and substance abuse treatment, detention mental health, maternal and child health, and family practice. Administratively, she served as the director of a large acute psychiatric hospital. She maintains her clinical practice at a non-profit organization in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Giddings received her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of South Alabama. She received her baccalaureate from State University of New York (Cum Laude) and her master’s from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Her doctoral studies focused on improving care and outcomes for patients with mental health and substance abuse disorders by implementing evidence based nursing strategies into practice.
In addition to her teaching role, Giddings serves on the UNLV School of Nursing Academic Affairs Council. She is also a member of the Zeta Gamma Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International, American Psychiatric Nurses Association, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and Nevada Advance Practice Nurse Association.
