Kyle Helms, M.S., PGA
Kyle Helms, originally from New Jersey, moved to Las Vegas in 2003 where he attended the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation. As a student in the UNLV PGA Golf Management Program, Kyle served in the industry as an intern at four high-end golf clubs across the country, including The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, and the exclusive Congressional Country Club located outside of Washington D.C.
In 2008, Kyle returned to UNLV to earn his Master of Science degree in Sport and Leisure Service Management, with emphasis in sport psychology. Specifically, Kyle studied the relationship between anxiety and golf performance for advanced players. Based on the findings, he developed professional implications for golf coaches on how they can help their students better manage psychological and physiological symptoms on the golf course. During his course of study, Kyle earned a membership into the Golden Key International Honour Society in 2009, and graduated from UNLV in 2010.
Upon graduating from UNLV, Kyle was selected by UNLV to serve as the Assistant Coach for the women’s golf team under the leadership of Amy Bush. After a successful season, he was hired by Las Vegas National Golf Club to manage the facility and operation. As Head Golf Professional, Kyle gained valuable management experience, and successfully developed a business plan that allowed the course to significantly increase revenue and control expenses.
In 2011 and 2012, Kyle also served as Tournament Director for the Harmon’s Heroes Foundation, an organization devoted to encouraging wellness and quality of life for combat-wounded veterans through the game of golf.
In September of 2012, Kyle was hired by UNLV to serve as Assistant Director and Internship Coordinator for the UNLV PGA Golf Management Program. In his role, Kyle teaches business planning, customer relations, turfgrass management, golf operations, merchandising & inventory control, intermediate teaching, human resources management, supervising & delegating, and career enhancement. In addition, Kyle is responsible for developing relationships with golf clubs around the country and assisting PGA students in their internship placements.
