Kate Pounders, Ph.D.
Biography
Dr. Pounders is originally from St. Louis, Missouri and graduated from Lindenwood University with a double major in Business Administration and Public Administration. Following graduation, she moved to Mississippi and earned an M.B.A. from the University of Southern Mississippi. Upon graduation, Dr. Pounders accepted a position with Horne Consultants as their marketing coordinator to help facilitate their move into the health care arena. She returned to school to pursue her Ph.D. at Louisiana State University (LSU), graduating with her doctorate in Marketing in 2010. During her time at LSU, she was named a Sheth Doctoral Consortium Fellow by the American Marketing Association and was the inaugural recipient of the Brenda M. Durby Memorial Award.
She currently researches, teaches and serves in the marketing community. Her research includes how social influence and consumption emotions impact consumer attitudes and behaviors. She examines these topics in a variety of contexts including experiential consumption, advertising, service experiences and relationship marketing. Her research ties theory with implications for consumers and consumer-focused business practices. She has published in the Journal of Current Issues in Advertising and has multiple refereed conference proceedings. Other works are currently under review.
Dr. Pounders also serves the national and local marketing community. She is actively involved in the American Marketing Association, and currently serves as the Vice President of Membership for the Consumer Behavior Special Interest Group. In addition, she is an active member of the Academy of Marketing Science, serving as a track chair for the 2012 Annual Conference. She is also a member of the Las Vegas chapter of the American Marketing Society.
