Karl Mayer, Ph.D, CHAE, CHE
Biography
Karl J. Mayer, Ph.D. is Associate Professor and Director of Dual Degree Programs in the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Dr. Mayer earned his undergraduate and masters’ degrees in engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and Columbia University, respectively. He also completed an MBA at the Harvard Business School. Dr. Mayer graduated from UNLV with his doctorate in Hotel Administration in 1999.
Dr. Mayer teaches in the areas of hospitality accounting and finance, and services management. His research interests include services marketing, casino gaming, and hospitality real estate finance and education. Dr. Mayer has published in top hospitality journals, including Journal of Travel Research, The Cornell Quarterly, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, Journal of Foodservice Business Research, and Gaming Research & Review Journal.
